A JNR works using a battery that powers a heating element responsible for heating the e-liquid. On many models, the device activates automatically when the user inhales. Depending on the model, a JNR may have a screen, a battery indicator, adjustable airflow, or different power modes. Two versions of the same model may look and taste similar while offering different nicotine levels. It is therefore best to check the stated nicotine level for the specific variant rather than relying solely on the brand name.

When a JNR no longer responds to inhalation, several causes are possible: low battery, incorrectly positioned pod, dirty contacts, blocked airflow, or a worn-out heating element. Start by checking the components accessible without disassembling the device. If the JNR has a screen, also check the battery level and any displayed messages. On a pod system, replacing the pod can resolve the issue if the battery is functioning normally.

If your JNR isn't charging, first check the cable, connector, and charging port. Trying a different, compatible USB-C cable can sometimes help determine if the problem is simply with the cable. The port should be clean, dry, and free of debris. If the device still doesn't respond, overheats, has a swollen battery, or shows signs of damage, stop charging and using it. Do not open or attempt to repair a lithium-ion battery yourself.
